Cowboy poetry

Tonight was poetry night at the school board meeting. All the students who were chosen to be class representatives were at the school board meeting to read their poems aloud. There were 24 representatives but not all of the showed up. We braved the wind and rain and snow flurries to be there. Alex was a little nervous but had been practising. She did great!
The superintendent was there, the principal, lots of teachers, and about 15 students with their families. Alex did great. Hearing her read her own poem made it come alive. When I read it, there were a few rhyming lines about a cowboy. To hear her read it, she knew exactly how to make the poem exciting. Our school had two honorable mention place winners and one of our students, a girl in Sydney's class, won first place. This was a county wide event so that's pretty amazing. There was a girl in Alex's class that was too scared once she saw how many people were there to read her poem. We're so proud of Alex for being so creative and brave. Keep up the good work!!
