New New Year's News

It's already the 5Th of January of 2011 and I'm already behind in my blogging! What was I thinking when I thought this year would be the year I would stay on top of things!! On to the big event. We decided to cook out on New Year's and have a big family party. We decided this the weekend before New Year's. Little did we know it would be freezing cold, windy, and that sleet would start coming down as soon as Clay started to grill the meat. Clay braved the weather and did a great job grilling the hot dogs and hamburgers. The table was loaded with yummy food to eat. I couldn't keep the kids out of it. At the end of the night I think we were all WADDLING to bed, we were so full!
Clay and the girls decided to eat in the kitchen while the rest of us watched football. We had plenty of caffeine flowing to give us a fighting chance of staying up until midnight.
The girls were super excited to bust open the party favors. Hats for everyone....check, noise makers for everyone....check, fireworks for everyone....check!
Papa took up his annual New Year's position on the couch. He slept through most of the football game and the movie. We made sure he didn't sleep through the countdown.
This was one of a couple New Year's that Clay has gotten to party with us. He's usually at work or trying to get sleep so he can go into work. Not this year, we were glad to have him around this year, no one can light a firework quite like Clay. I am happy to report that this year my hair did not catch on fire!
It was freezing outside so our lucky dog Cassius got to party inside with all of us. He was the real party animal!
Let the final countdown begin! Complete with fireworks and noise blowers, we rang in the new year with style!
Nana and Alex really got in the spirit. Our neighbors reported to us the next morning that they heard us ringing in the new year. After the fireworks ran out and we ran out of hot air we climbed into our warm beds and slept off all our food! What a party!!
The new year has began whether we were prepared or not. Hopefully this year will be just as exciting as the last! Happy 2011.
