Tonight was the final game for Sydney and all the other kids who participated in the Jr. NBA. The boys and girls club of Bisbee sponsored the event.
Sydney's team (black lightning) played the gold team (the goldfish) to determine which team would be third and fourth. Sydney's team lost 12 to 20. You couldn't tell they had just lost, they were so excited about scoring 12 points! That's the most they had scored the whole season. Sydney enjoyed playing and will probably participate next year too! I'm glad it's over, it made the days (and nights) super long, dinner super late, and getting homework done a struggle!
Coach Andy was an awesome coach. He was so patient with all the kids, especially the kids like Sydney (ones who had never touched a basketball before).
Every kid who participated got a medal. The first place team got a medal and a trophy. They even handed out MVP trophies and most improved trophies. The boy that won MVP was amazing. HE could land a basket from anywhere and he's only in third grade. At half time they had a shoot off and this little third grader landed a shot from behind half court! He beat out adults. He won $18 for that shot! It was fun to watch!!
The teams also got certificates of participation.
After it was all over the teams posed with their coaches. Sydney's team had some of the quietest and shyest kids you've ever seen. At the end you would have never thought that. They were super excited about the medals and acting CRAZY!
Good Job Sydney! You go girl!!
